Senate Banking Committee Advances HUD Deputy Secretary Nomination

The Senate Committee on Banking recently voted to recommend the nomination of Pam Patenaude to serve as HUD Deputy Secretary. Her nomination was supported by all members in attendance except for Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).

Ms. Patenaude previously appeared before the committee for her nomination hearing. Committee Democrats, while acknowledging Patenaude’s experience and qualifications, pressed her for her thoughts on the administration’s proposed cuts to housing programs. In response to questions from Ranking Member Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Patenaude said that she supported Trump’s proposed budget for HUD but stressed that she did not play a role in drafting it.

With the Banking Committee’s approval, Ms. Patenaude’s nomination now advances to the Senate for a final confirmation vote.
